THE IMPORTANCE OF FINDING STABLE HOUSING

There are many factors in your reentry journey that will be affected by whether or not you find stable housing.

It’s difficult to get a job and become a productive member of your community if you do not have a place to live.  Housing becomes one of the most important aspects of successful reentry and one that you need to navigate carefully.

Research shows that the barriers associated with finding housing can be daunting, and that due to such housing barriers, one in five people who leave prison will become homeless.

In this section, we will discuss:

  • Public Housing
  • Housing Choice Voucher Programs – “Section 8 vouchers”
  • Private Landlord owned property
  • evictions
  • transitional housing providers
